What is Solar PV?

Solar PV stands for Solar Photovoltaic. It is a technology that converts sunlight into electricity. Solar PV systems consist of solar panels that capture sunlight and convert it into direct current (DC) electricity, which is then converted into alternating current (AC) electricity by an inverter. This clean and renewable energy source is harnessed to power EV chargers, battery storage, and buildings, reducing dependence on fossil fuels, and its subsequent environmental impact.

FAQ

What are the main benefits of using Helios Volt?

Helios Volt offers several key benefits:

High Efficiency: Our bi-facial solar PV panels can produce on average 20% more energy than other solar canopies currently on the market.

Dual Use: Helios Volt provides shade and cover from all-weather types while generating free on-site solar energy, optimizing space and functionality.

Sustainability: By harnessing clean energy from the sun, Helios Volt can reduce your sites dependence on the grid, slashing carbon emissions and reliance on fossil fuels.

Cost Savings: Using solar energy can significantly reduce electricity bills, leading to long-term cost savings and a 7-year return on investment.

Customizability: As a turnkey solution, we will create a bespoke design that suits every site topography and energy needs. With three variations being freestanding, fixed and multi- storey variant, there is a solution to every need.

When will the product be commercially available?

We are currently accepting orders for Helios Volt. If you are interested in placing an order and want to find out more, please contact our relationship manager Matthew Blackwell here.

How sustainable is the product?

Helios Volt is highly sustainable, as it harnesses clean solar energy, a renewable resource that does not deplete over time. By utilizing solar power, the product contributes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and lessening the overall environmental impact compared to conventional electricity generation methods. For more information on our sustainability policy click here and for examples of the carbon emissions saved click here.

How much will Helios Volt cost?

Pricing varies depending on the size of the site, the size of the systems used, and additional options. As part of our turnkey solution, we provide a complimentary feasibility study that will outline the overall project costs. If you are interested in receiving a feasibility study for your site, feel free to reach out to our relationship manager Matthew Blackwell here.

What sectors can Helios Volt be used in?

Helios Volt is versatile and can be applied in various sectors with parking assets, including but not limited to:

Healthcare: The freestanding variant, with demountable mono pitch design, means if the trust is looking to expand the site, the canopy can be easily repositioned making it adaptable to all spaces.

Education: Schools and universities can benefit from the canopy as a learning aid for science, engineering, and geography-based subjects.

Historic buildings: Helios Volt provides a great solution for historical spaces looking to decarbonise their site without adding roof-top solar panels to pre-existing infrastructure.

Leisure centres and hospitality: With energy prices soaring, Helios Volt can save money on energy bills in the short term and return on initial investment within 7 years, helping to secure your businesses future.

What restricts the installation of Helios Volt?

While Helios Volt is designed to adapt to all different types of urban environments, certain factors like local regulations may influence its installation. As a turnkey solution, we manage all planning applications and will always consult with clients on any issues we’ve found.

How much energy does a canopy produce?

A single 4 bay canopy produces 11.36kW, increasing to 13.96MWh with the bi-facial panels producing on average 20% more power. This average, however, is a variable and will change depending on factors such as location, orientation, and available sunlight. The total amount of renewable solar energy a site can produce will be detailed in the complimentary feasibility study we offer.

How much money will I save using Helios Volt?

The amount of money saved with Helios Volt varies depending on your current energy consumption, local electricity rates, and the size of the solar installation. Generally, users can expect significant savings on their electricity bills over the 30-year lifespan of the system with a return on investment in 7 years.

What are the advantages of using Helios Volt over rooftop solar?

Helios Volt offers several advantages over rooftop solar:

Dual Functionality: Helios Volt serves as both a shade canopy and a solar energy generator, maximising limited available space in urban environments.

Quick and safe installation: Our ground mounted canopy design reduces installation time by 60% in comparison to rooftop solar. The low frame means our installation team do not have to carry out the same health safety risk assessments needed for rooftop installation.

Enhanced Aesthetics: Helios Volt is designed to be aesthetically pleasing and can integrate easily into any urban setting. Our Helios Eco wall and Helios Heli ad add ons enhance this further adding a green touch, further enhancing its already positive environmental impact.

Can I use grant money to purchase Helios Volt?

Yes, the availability of grant money or incentives to purchase Helios Volt varies by location and government policies. Our team can assist you in exploring potential incentives and support available in your area.

Will I use all the energy I generate, and what can I do if I don't?

The energy generated by Helios Volt can be used to power your property in real-time. Any excess energy can be stored in batteries for later use, exported to the grid (if permitted), or used to power EV charges.

How do I earn and save money?

With Helios Volt, you can earn and save money through:

Savings on Electricity Bills: Generating your electricity means reduced reliance on the grid and lower utility bills.

EV Chargers: You can monetize excess power generated by the canopy into EV chargers, providing an additional revenue stream for your business and incentivise sustainable transport.

Do I need to source any materials to build a solar canopy?

No, you do not need to source materials for the Helios Volt canopy. CrowdHouse Energy provides a complete solution, including all necessary materials and components for the installation of the solar canopy. Our team will handle the entire process, from idea to implementation.
